Jolie’s story
Jolie Lounge & Café opened its doors in December 2020. The menu changed with the eight seasons here in Lapland and invited everyone to drop in to eat, drink coffee or enjoy our unique cocktails alone, with a friend or a bigger group. Over the course of the past years Jolie had become a popular meeting place where we also organized brunches, themed Friday Night Dinners, music lounge evenings with a live DJ and other interesting events.
Jolie Lounge & Café closed its doors in Äkäslompolo in mid-May 2025. Our story did not end with bankruptcy, burnout or loss of interest, but with the landlord’s desire to take the business premises for his own use starting from June 1st 2025. With a heavy heart we had to give up our beloved place in the heart of Äkäslompolo at the end of May, as our lease agreement was not extended extended.
When one door closes, another one opens…
For a long time I thought about how I could continue Jolie Lounge & Café. What do I really want: to downsize or expand, more space for creativity and well-being, or more catering? What if there is nothing in Ylläs, what then? Am I ready to move somewhere else? I then decided that I would go where I find the right place. I did not find it in Ylläs. A return to Ylläs sometime in the future is still possible.
I found it a little further away. This lovely place called Vanha-Norri in Kaukjärvi (Forssa-Tammela region) popped up in front of my nose in August and the pieces started to fall into place. The property will provide a new home for both Jolie and my family.
A new beginning
Jolie Lounge & Café has moved to Vanha-Norri and continues the story that began in Ylläs with a renewed concept.The new premises and new location between Tammela and Forssa, in the middle of the village of Kaukjärvi, offer completely different opportunities than in Äkäslompolo. Our values, food philosophy and familiar favorite products will continue to exist, but the courtyard of the old farm and the spaces of the different buildings allow for a wider combination of creativity and well-being with good food and drink, all year round.
In the future, Jolie Lounge & Café will be part of Jolie Vanha-Norri;but as before, Jolie Lounge & Café will be a year-round relaxed meeting place in the heart of the village for both locals, cottagers and tourists, only the village changed from Äkäslompolo to Kaukjärvi.

The courtyard and old buildings of Vanha-Norri invite you to relax and enjoy different seasons in different spaces. The pavilion and terrace areas of the summer courtyard offer the opportunity to enjoy cake and coffee, summer food or refreshing drinks amidst the beautiful traditional landscape. The restaurant offers a relaxed brunch on Sundays and starting in autumn also Friday Night Dinners and other taste experiences. The restaurant can also be booked for your own parties. The original café Jolie Lounge & Café is located in a former workshop.
Jolie has invested in local and wild food in Ylläs. The food and drink menus changed according to the seasons in the north. Here in Vanha-Norri we can invest even more in local food, because here in the south local food is easier to get, wild food is more widely available and the longer harvest season also offers a more diverse range of seasonal ingredients.
We are continuing and expanding the concept created in Ylläs so that we can continue to offer high-quality and relaxed taste sensations and experiences for all senses. In Vanha-Norri we are creating a new relaxed meeting place and village living room for both locals and tourists from the Forssa region alike.
